Ditchwater Pictures tells stories from Australia and New Zealand, and some of our more interesting neighbours, to share with the world. The company has offices in Byron Bay, Australia, and in Auckland, New Zealand.
The idea for the ‘Cross-the-Ditch’ film company was originally conceived in India, back in 2010, when award-winning film director and producer, Harold Monfils, the Kiwi connection, collaborated with award-winning advertising writer and director, Rod Vallis, the Aussie, on a large-scale television commercial.
A dozen years, a bunch of solo projects and a thousand ideas later, Rod and Harold have finally bridged the Tasman between Oz and NZ, locally known as ‘The Ditch’, to create Ditchwater Pictures. They currently have six feature-length projects in various stages of development, pre-production, production and post-production.

TEASER TRAILER THIS IS NO ORDINARY WESTERN
Cowboys and Indians is a contemporary, feature-length, fish-out-of-water, romantic comedy adventure about an Australian cowboy who sets out to make the world’s greatest ever Western ...
... in India.
Engaging, warm and funny with a massive heart it wants to share with the world, Cowboys and Indians shows there are no good or bad races in the world, just good and bad people, and that love is far more powerful than hate.
It’s been a while since an Australian film tickled the whole world’s funny bone, and the world could certainly use a laugh right now. This could be the one.
Think Crocodile Dundee meets Shanghai Noon at The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
